thinking back
September 24, 2007
I find it interesting how digital media has become a big part of my life. I am constantly on Facebook, MSN Messenger, email, Deviant Art, Skype, and many other websites. I’m always interested in what my friends and family members are doing.
The reason I think a lot of people have become addicted to digital media is because there are many ways to communicate instantaneously without heavy expenses.
When I talked to my parents about when they were my age, they said it was difficult to keep in touch with a lot of their college and high school friends because long distance calls cost a fortune. They would have to send a handwritten letter or would have to use a typewriter to send a typed letter.
It also makes me wonder why digital media can be so addicting. About 8 years ago I never really cared about using the internet or the computer even. Suddenly it has become necessary to know so many applications and different types of media. It seems like digital media is just expanding in so many directions that make us more dependent on it.
For fun

I’m just testing out this blog. I might as well have some fun figuring out some things on this site.
Can’t believe these are auditions for a Kung-Fu movie.
Now just a thought…
After watching clips like this it makes me wonder about the internet is how expansive it has become. Online everything has become a social network. For example, you can rate and comment on this video clip and message to other people who view and publish works on youtube. This also makes me think about the myriads of other websites like blogs to deviantart to livejournal to forums, etc. which have become giant social networks for people to interact with each other.
